Introduction

The NCR Mobile Gateway Controller (MGC) is a smart controller with pre-loaded software that provides mobile devices access to traditional retail peripherals, including scanners, cash drawers, payment MGCs and receipt printers. It can also be fitted with a stand to hold a mobile device. The MGC can be conveniently and unobtrusively placed throughout a store to handle transactions and service shopper’s needs beyond just a tablet alone.

The MGC is a smart controller package that allows mobile devices to claim and release traditional retail peripherals. This device maintains retail connectivity including 12V/24V powered ports. Designed to utilize passive cooling and solid state storage, it offers a sealed cabinet for highest reliability. Modern aesthetics allow the device to be used under the counter or on the counter top if desired with optional Stand for tablets and displays.

A mobile device can claim an NCR Mobile POS Assistant station for as long as it is needed. Therefore, during peak periods, the mobile device can act as an additional fixed POS MGC instead of a mobile device. Once it is released, the station is available to other mobile devices. In markets where credit card readers aren’t prevalent or available on a mobile POS device, the NCR Mobile POS Assistant provides more payment options by allowing credit and debit cards to be used with an existing payment MGC infrastructure.
